Yoga pose of the week - Gomukhasana or Cow Face Pose

The yoga pose of the week is Gomukhasana, or cow face pose. This pose generously offers a stretch to the pelvic area and legs, and you may also feel it in your lower back. This type of stretch brings a special sense of lightness and relaxation after sitting for a long time at work, in a car, or in any other static position.

Gomukasana yoga pose

How to do it?
1) Sitting on the floor, lift your right leg so that the knee is pointing straight ahead and the foot is on the floor next to your hip.
2) Lift your left leg over the right one. You can keep the sole of your foot on the floor with your knee pointing toward the sky if needed. If your body allows, slide your knees directly on top of each other and bring the foot next to the hip (as shown in the photo).
3) If you already feel a stretch in one or both hips, hold here for a few deep breaths. If you want more, fold forward toward your legs.
4) Repeat the same pose on the other side of your body.

This yoga pose can be encountered in vinyasa, yin, yin yang, as well as hatha yoga classes.
