Yoga pose of the week - Upward-Facing Dog or Urdhva Mukha Svanasana

The yoga pose of the week is the Upward-Facing Dog, or Urdhva Mukha Svanasana.

Upward-Facing Dog is a widely used yoga pose in many styles of yoga and is also one of the poses included in the traditional sun salutation sequence.
This yoga pose improves posture and strengthens the back, spine, and arms. It offers a pleasant stretch for the chest, abdominal area, and shoulders. The pose is an excellent counter-stretch after working at a computer or after a long drive.

How to do it?
1. Start lying on your stomach on the mat, placing your hands exactly under your shoulders. Spread your fingers wide so that you can support yourself with the entire palm.
2. Gradually begin to lift your chest off the mat by pushing your chest forward, shoulders back and down, and away from your neck.
3. If necessary, keep your arms bent and your thighs on the mat, staying in the Cobra pose.

Both the Upward-Facing Dog pose and the entire sun salutation sequence are very characteristic of the vinyasa yoga style. If you feel that this kind of movement could benefit you, then until the beginning of June, there is a cat yoga online class every Wednesday at 12:00, which is a vinyasa yoga-based class held in the company of the kitties from the Cat Café Nurri. No previous experience is required; join as you are.
