Yoga pose of the week - Boat pose or Navasana
This week's yoga pose is the Boat pose, or Navasana.
The pose strengthens the abdominal muscles, back muscles, hip flexors, and legs, while also offering a small challenge in maintaining balance.
Depending on your intuition, there is an opportunity to take either a simpler or a more complex variation of the pose.
The simplest variation is to perform the pose with bent legs, holding onto the backs of your knees gently with your hands while trying to keep yourself in the pose primarily using your core muscles.
Once the boat pose starts to feel more familiar, begin to slowly straighten your legs while keeping your back as straight as possible.
In the final boat pose, remove your hands from your legs as well, hold your balance, and use your muscle strength to pull your body and legs toward each other (without hurting yourself).

You can encounter this exercise, in its various forms, in all Aurora Yoga Studio classes.
Happy practicing and enjoy the process!
