Yoga pose of the week - Eka Pada Utkatasana

The yoga pose of the week is the figure-four stretch, also known as the one-legged chair pose or Eka Pada Utkatasana.
The pose improves balance and concentration, and strengthens the lower body.
Like all other balancing poses, it also develops the ability to be present in the here and now.
The exercise provides a stretch across the glutes, the back and outer side of the thighs, and the lower back as well.
If the standing variation of the yoga pose feels too challenging at the moment, the same exercise can also be done while sitting or lying on your back.
You can encounter this yoga pose in its various forms in vinyasa, yin, and yin yang yoga classes.
