Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find a list of frequently asked questions and their answers. Perhaps you will find the answer to something you have been wondering about as well.

1. I am not flexible at all - is yoga suitable for me?
Yes! The fact that the body becomes more flexible and mobile is a positive side effect of yoga. You certainly do not need to be flexible before joining the classes 🙂
In our yoga classes, we use the blocks, straps, and bolsters provided on-site as props, which are helpful, among other things, if our hands cannot reach the floor in certain exercises or if we cannot reach our toes.

2. Can I handle a yoga class if I haven't worked out in a long time?
Definitely! There is certainly no need to work out before joining the classes 🙂
Complete beginners are welcome to join the classes on the Aurora Yoga Studio schedule without any prior experience, preparation, or skills (with the exception of classes/workshops labeled "for advanced students").
You can also choose a calmer-paced yoga class to start with, such as yin yoga or yin yang yoga.

3. I don't have a partner, can I come to acro yoga?
Individuals are welcome to join acro yoga classes and workshops both alone and with partners. For safety reasons, we do the exercises in groups of 3–4 people anyway. Many people join the classes alone.

4. My partner is bigger/smaller than me, can we do acro yoga together?
Yes!
There are three different roles in acro yoga: base, flyer, and spotter.
In class, we recommend trying all the roles at least once to better understand your partners, but you can also choose to stick to a specific role. For example, if you are bigger/stronger than your partner, you can choose to be in the base (bottom) role, and likewise, if you are smaller, you can choose to be the flyer (top) role (though the role is certainly not determined by body weight or height).
It is also possible to successfully base people larger than yourself with the right technique.
You can also switch partners during class to gain your own base/flyer experience with a flyer/base of a size suitable for your abilities.
